Beverly Sace

Beverly is a highly sought-after curriculum developer and literacy consultant, who supports teachers and schools in curriculum design, school-wide implementation and classroom teaching in their use of Jolly Phonics. As a teacher trainer, she travels extensively in China and Asia to deliver training sessions for pre-service and in-service teachers across the key stages, from early years to secondary, and increasingly as a speaker in university classrooms. Using Jolly Phonics, she investigated young children’s reading and spelling skills for her masters research at the University of York. She has been providing synthetic phonics and other literacy professional development courses since 2010. She is the author of Vocabfonix, which uses Jolly Phonics to teach spelling.

An experienced early years teacher, Beverly runs the online phonics school and consultancy Books and Brains Literacy Services. She personally teaches children with learning difficulties using Jolly Phonics, which has yielded spectacular progress for her students. In addition, she also delivers courses to parents on how to support their children’s reading development at home, thereby increasing support and speeding up reading acquisition.

Beverly is currently retraining to become an educational psychologist and has a special interest in children’s literacy development. Jolly Phonics is Beverly’s programme of choice – it works excellently with very young learners, delayed readers, as well as children with special needs. She is known for her very detailed training sessions with every participant walking away enlightened, reflecting her deep knowledge and extensive experience with Jolly Phonics as well as how brains learn to read.
